Meli ("we", "our", or "us") is committed to protecting your privacy. This policy describes how we collect, use, and protect your information when you use our AI assistant application. By using Meli, you agree to the practices described in this policy.
Meli is not intended for users under 13 years of age, or under the minimum age required for digital services in your jurisdiction.
We collect information you provide directly to us, including:
• Account information: Email address, name, and authentication credentials
• Conversation content: Messages, images, voice recordings, and other content you share with Meli
• Support communications: Information you provide when contacting us for support
We automatically collect device and usage information such as IP address, device identifiers, app version, and diagnostic data to operate and improve the service.
We use the information we collect to:
• Provide, maintain, and improve our services
• Process your messages through AI services to generate responses
• Personalize your experience
• Send you notifications and reminders
• Respond to your requests and support needs
• Communicate with you about your account
• Develop and improve our technology
• Analyze usage and improve user experience
• Comply with legal obligations
To provide Meli's AI features, we send your content to third-party AI service providers for processing. This includes:
• What we send: The content of your messages, images you share, transcriptions of voice messages, and relevant conversation context
• Who receives it: We currently use AI services from Anthropic, OpenAI, and Google
• Why we send it: To generate AI responses, analyze images, transcribe voice, and provide the core functionality of Meli
• Permission and controls: We obtain consent for third-party AI processing where required by applicable law or platform policy. Where available, you can withdraw consent in-app in Settings > Privacy & Data > AI Data Sharing. You can also request deletion by contacting support@meli.im or deleting your account
• Effect of withdrawal: If you withdraw consent, new AI processing is paused until you enable it again. Processing completed before withdrawal cannot be reversed
These providers process your data according to their own privacy policies and data handling practices. We select providers that maintain appropriate security and privacy standards. We do not authorize these providers to use your data for training their AI models or for purposes unrelated to providing Meli's services, where such restrictions are available.
We implement appropriate security measures to protect your personal information against unauthorized access, alteration, disclosure, or destruction. Your conversations with Meli are encrypted and stored securely.
We retain your data for as long as necessary to provide the service and to comply with our legal obligations. Upon account deletion, we may retain your data for a period to fulfill legal obligations and legitimate business purposes, after which it is deleted.
We use third-party service providers to operate the service, including the AI providers described above, cloud infrastructure, analytics, and payment processing. We require third-party providers with access to personal data to protect it in accordance with applicable law and our contractual requirements. We may share information with third parties when required by law or to protect our rights. We do not sell your personal information.
Depending on your location, you may have rights to access, correct, delete, or restrict use of your personal data, and to withdraw consent where processing relies on consent. You can use in-app controls where available, delete your account, or contact support@meli.im to make requests or raise concerns.
Meli is operated from the United States. Your information may be processed in countries other than where you live. Where required by applicable law, we use appropriate safeguards for such transfers.
We may update this policy at any time. Changes are effective when posted. Your continued use of the service constitutes acceptance.
